Subject: WordPress — Editorial and Economic Harm Resulting from the Advertising Policy Applied to bernardgrua.net
January 28, 2026,
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am formally bringing to your attention the advertising policy currently applied by WordPress to my site bernardgrua.net, which has been hosted on your platform for more than twelve years.
The progressive but now massive increase in advertising insertions — particularly intrusive and repetitive visual formats — directly obscures editorial content, disrupts reading continuity, and severely impairs the user experience. This situation has resulted in a noticeable decline in traffic and explicit rejection by loyal readers.
Editorial and Economic Harm
Since 2014, I have published 536 articles and invested continuous work in editorial production, content structuring, and search engine optimization. This work has created stable and qualified traffic, now exploited by WordPress’ advertising system in conditions that undermine the purpose and readability of the content.
This results in a clear editorial and economic harm, including:
- degradation of access to texts,
- loss of readership,
- weakening of search engine rankings in the medium term,
- a manifest imbalance between the value created by the author and the conditions under which this value is now exploited.
This evolution, implemented without real consultation or effective control by the author, amounts to a unilateral capture of the value produced, to the detriment of the integrity of the content and its normal dissemination.
Request for Concrete Measures
I therefore request that WordPress indicate:
- what concrete measures it intends to implement to reduce the advertising pressure applied to my site,
- the timeline for these measures to be implemented,
- and the methods WordPress intends to use to maintain a balance between advertising exploitation and respect for the editorial work hosted on its platform.
This action aims to stop ongoing harm and restore conditions compatible with normal reading and the maintenance of the search engine optimization built over the long term.
In the absence of a detailed response and effective corrective measures within a reasonable timeframe, I will be compelled to consider any appropriate action to protect the integrity of my content, its search engine ranking, and the trust relationship established with my readers.
Publication and Transparency
In accordance with a policy of editorial transparency, this letter is intended to be published on my WordPress site as well as on other publishing platforms (Medium, Blogger).
